Clutch bouquet

A small, compact bouquet held in one hand like a clutch bag: well suited to civil ceremonies and simple dresses.

A clutch bouquet (in Italian pochette) is a gathered, low and dense bunch with short or bound stems. You hold it easily in one hand, which leaves the other free to sign the register, greet guests or lift your dress. That is why it is a popular choice for civil weddings at the town hall and for small weddings.

It usually costs less than a cascade bouquet, but not always: a few premium flowers, such as peonies out of season, push the price up. The guide to the bridal bouquet shows the shapes, the one on flowers for a civil wedding explains when it works best, and the one on bouquet prices gives indicative ranges.

What to ask: the diameter, how the handle is bound, and whether the ribbon colour picks up the dress.

Frequently asked questions

Is a clutch bouquet fine in church too?

Yes. There are no rules on bouquet shapes: what matters is that it is in proportion to you and your dress.
