Dried flowers are flowers, grasses and leaves that have been air-dried or dried by other methods. Softer colours, a rougher texture and a lifespan of months: they are the heart of boho styling, with pampas grass, wheat, honesty and ornamental grasses. Many couples choose them for a bouquet they want to keep, or for pieces that sit in the sun all day.
They have clear limits. They break easily, shed fibres and dust that can bother guests with allergies, and they burn quickly, so they must be kept well away from open flames. They are not always the sustainable choice either: some are imported, bleached and dyed. The guide to dried and preserved flowers sets out the pros and cons; the one on boho style shows how they are used; the one on how to preserve your bouquet explains drying after the party.
What to ask: where they come from, whether they are dyed, how they should be stored.
