A floral table runner takes the idea of a fabric runner, the strip that runs down the middle of the table, but is made of leaves, branches and flowers laid straight on the tablecloth or on a protective cloth. It is typical of the banquet table and of Mediterranean or garden-style receptions, with olive, eucalyptus and scattered flowers.
Without water, the runner's flowers have to last for hours: choose sturdy foliage and long-lasting flowers, or tuck in small water tubes. The caterer needs to know how wide it is, so platters do not cover it. It appears in the guide on table and flowers, in the real wedding flower examples and in the guide to the symbolic ceremony, where it sometimes lines the aisle.
What to ask: the width, whether it will stain the tablecloth, and whether it comes with candles.
