Hire, or rentals in US English (noleggio in Italian), covers everything that is not used up: vases, pedestal stands, candelabras, arches, columns, potted plants, sometimes tables and fabrics. The flower designer often has their own stock, or hires from event styling companies. Compared with buying, it costs less and creates less waste.
In the quote, hire is usually a separate line, sometimes with a deposit or a charge for breakages and losses. Everything has to be returned after the event, which is why it is tied to breakdown. The guide on hiring vases, stands and structures covers costs and terms; the one on how to read a quote shows where to find it; the one on centrepiece prices tells you how much it weighs.
What to ask: what is hired and what you keep, who pays for breakages, and whether guests can take the centrepieces home.
