Glossary term

Quote

The document listing pieces, quantities, prices and terms for your flowers: the more detailed it is, the easier it is to compare.

A florist's quote (preventivo in Italian) lists the pieces (bouquets, ceremony, tables, corners), with quantities, sizes and main flowers, then the service items: hire, set-up, breakdown, travel, VAT. The terms come at the end: deposit, balance, deadlines, changes.

Two quotes with very different totals often do not describe the same things. Before comparing them, put them on the same lines. Prices should always be read as indicative until the flowers are confirmed. The guide on how to read a florist's quote goes line by line; the sample quotes show typical cases; the guide to what wedding flowers cost gives the price bands.

When you are ready, you can request a quote from florists in your area.

Frequently asked questions

Why are two quotes for the same flowers so different?

They often include different things: sizes, hire, breakdown, VAT, the number of people on the team. Compare them line by line, not on the total.

Is a quote binding?

A quote is a proposal. It becomes a commitment when you sign it, or sign a contract, and pay a deposit. Read the terms carefully before you do.
