A confettata is a table of confetti in different flavours and colours, set out in jars and on stands for guests to help themselves. In Italian, confetti are not paper confetti: they are almonds or other centres coated in sugar, known in English as sugared or Jordan almonds, and they are the sweet that symbolises a wedding in Italy. Guests from abroad are often surprised by it, so it is worth explaining in your order of the day.
Flowers turn it into a small corner of the party, matched to the palette and the bomboniera. Near food you need clean flowers, with no falling pollen and never toxic ones. The guide on floral corners explains how to dress it; the one on flowers and Italian wedding traditions tells you about the custom; the one on Puglia shows an example in a masseria.
What to ask: who supplies the containers, whether the flowers touch the sugared almonds, and who sets it up and when.
