Church flowers (in Italian addobbi della chiesa) usually cover the altar arrangements, the pew ends along the nave, the entrance or doorway and sometimes the aisle runner. Every parish has its own rules: access times, banned materials, whether flowers on the altar are allowed, and sometimes an expectation that you leave the flowers to the church. Ask the parish priest before you design anything.
In the busiest months some churches host several weddings on the same day, and couples sometimes share the flowers and the cost. The altar arrangements can then go on to the reception through reusing the flowers. The guide to church wedding flowers explains what is possible; the one on the cost of church flowers gives indicative ranges. Hydrangeas are among the flowers most used in Italian churches.
What to ask: a site visit at the church, the set-up time, and who clears the flowers after Mass.
