A flower designer, or floral designer, plans the flowers for a wedding or event as one project: colour palette, volumes, structures, lighting and the way guests move through the space. Then they make it with their team, set it up and take it down. Compared with a traditional flower shop, they work mostly by project and by appointment, often starting from a moodboard and a site visit at the venue.
The title is not regulated in Italy: what counts is a portfolio of events like yours, not the word on the business card. The differences from a florist and a wedding designer are explained in the guide florist, flower designer, wedding designer. To see who decides what when a planner is involved, read flower designer and wedding planner.
What to ask: photos of real weddings in similar venues, who from the team will be there on the day, and what the price includes. The full list is in the questions to ask your flower designer. You can browse wedding flower designers by region.
